Michigan State recruiting got some favorable news on Tuesday as four-star defensive end Malik Vann named his top six.

There’s no doubt that Vann is a priority target and he even wore Michigan State gloves to a recent camp for The Opening. He said the reason he wore them is because he wanted to show the Spartans some love for making it known that he’s a priority target.

Why wouldn’t he be? He stands 6-foot-2, weighing about 270 pounds and creating havoc in the backfield. He’s athletic for his size and would be an instant impact type of player in East Lansing.

The Spartans have been the favorite to land him ever since Notre Dame informed him that it didn’t have any room left in its 2018 class for his position. For a guy as talented as Vann, you’d think they would have made an exception.

However, the Spartans are in good shape for the nation’s No. 267 overall recruit and 12th-best strong-side defensive end, according to the 247Sports‘ composite rankings. Remember, he’s also former teammates, and good friend, with Josiah Scott, the Spartans’ early enrollee cornerback. The two played together for Fairfield (Ohio).
