Michigan State Recruiting: 3-star LB Ed Warinner commits to Spartans
Michigan State recruiting received another commitment in its 2018 football class in three-star linebacker Ed Warinner from Powell, Ohio.
After weeks of hearing about the Michigan State’s basketball recruiting, the football side of things stole the headlines on Wednesday night as three-star linebacker Ed Warinner committed to the Spartans.

Warinner, a former high school teammate in Powell, Ohio, of current Spartan offensive lineman AJ Arcuri, received an offer from Mark Dantonio on an April 4 unofficial visit.
Because of his ties to the program and the fact this was one of the offers he had been waiting for, it didn’t take long for the three-star middle linebacker to pick the green and white. He is the typical Spartan linebacker and he fits the mold set by Greg Jones, Max Bullough, Riley Bullough and now Joe Bachie.
The Powell-native stands 6-foot-2, 225 pounds and plays aggressively play in and play out. He was named second-team all-state following his junior year. He has excellent vision for the middle of the defense and flies to the ball, usually making a big hit on the ball carrier. He also has decent open-field speed.
As you can see, he plays hard and he’s tough to slow down. He even blew up some plays with a reverse pancake — shedding a block so hard that he bulled over an opposing lineman. He’s ranked just the No. 988 overall recruit and 36th-best insider linebacker by 247Sports.

Warinner was expected to visit Iowa this weekend, but obviously that’s likely not happening, especially with Dantonio’s no-visit rule. He becomes the fifth commit in the 2018 class and the first linebacker pledge.
