Michigan State recruiting could get some good news soon as five-star center Brandon McCoy is down to two schools.

The Michigan State recruiting headlines this offseason have been constant. Regarding both Brian Bowen and Brandon McCoy, there’s plenty of uncertainty and speculation, but no concrete evidence that either will commit to Michigan State.

Heck, fans have been speculating about potential decision dates and he said at the McDonald’s All-American Game that it could come within a couple of weeks.

On Friday, he went a step further and hinted at a decision date that could come as early as Wednesday. On top of that, he claimed that he was down to two schools, but didn’t mention who they were.

Tom Izzo has been aiming to land McCoy for over a year now and it wouldn’t be all that surprising if the Chicago-native had the Spartans in his final two. However, who would their competition be? Rumors are flying that UNLV is the other team, but Oregon had been a favorite for quite some time.

The Spartans’ 2017 recruiting class currently consists of four-star big Xavier Tillman and five-star power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. The latter, however, was McCoy’s roommate at the McDonald’s All-American Game and was in his ear the whole time. That could help Michigan State’s chances.

If McCoy were to commit to Michigan State, the Spartans would have two McDonald’s All-American pledges for the second straight year. Izzo could be building his super team.
