Former Michigan State sharpshooter Bryn Forbes recorded the most dominant half for a rookie since Tim Duncan in 1998.

Bryn Forbes is still finding his way around the NBA. The Spurs’ rookie guard was signed in the offseason as an undrafted free agent and Gregg Popovich liked what he could bring to the table. He was one of the top shooters in the 2016 class of rookies.

Although he had to sit through the 2016 NBA Draft without hearing his name called and seeing former teammate and childhood friend Denzel Valentine go, he knew he had a shot. It didn’t take long before the Spurs snatched him up and eventually signed him to the active roster.

While his rookie year hasn’t been all that action-packed, playing just 7.3 minutes per game in 33 contests, he had a career game for the Spurs on Friday. He scored 27 points with six assists and three rebounds on 10-of-19 shooting.

Also, he accomplished a feat that puts him in the same breath as Tim Duncan.

Yes, you’ve read that correctly. Forbes is the first Spurs rookie to score 20-plus points in a half since Duncan did so in 1998. That’s some elite company as the former Spurs power forward is a future Hall of Famer.
