3. Smith made planning an official visit a priority

The most important thing for Smith to do before his decision date was to take a visit to East Lansing, apparently. The four-star guard was quick to set something up shortly after receiving his offer from Izzo on March 28. He wasted little time in scheduling a visit, even being rumored a week ago.

In fact, there were rumors flying around that Smith and his family were planning on visiting in private, but those were shot down because they didn’t want anyone to know. This weekend, though, is his visit to Michigan State. They are no longer worried who knows about the visit to East Lansing and it just shows how important they believe the Spartans are in the recruitment.

On top of that, he’s skipping an all-star game this weekend to take an official visit. Originally, he was planning on playing and then going to Michigan State afterwards, but in order to fit in an official visit, he’s skipping the game completely.

If he wasn’t serious about committing to Michigan State, he probably wouldn’t skip an all-star game just to get on campus for an extra day. Things are looking up for the Spartans, and this just confirms it.
