Michigan State basketball is showing interest in Green Bay graduate transfer big man Kerem Kanter.

Tom Izzo is no stranger to grad transfers, or transfers in general, as Michigan State basketball may be targeting yet another this offseason. According to reports, Kerem Kanter could be an option for the Spartans in 2017-18.

While another post presence isn’t exactly a major need for Michigan State next season, we all learned it’s never a bad thing to stock up.

According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, Michigan State has reached out to the 6-foot-10, 240-pound big man from Green Bay.

Kanter has quite the list of potential suitors lined up as he’s expected to take a visit to Xavier and programs like Kansas, Connecticut, Baylor, Purdue and Pitt have all reached out.

In case you’re wondering, yes, Kanter is the younger brother of Oklahoma City Thunder star Enes Kanter. They were born in Istanbul, Turkey, and the elder Kanter has carved out quite a niche for himself in the NBA as an imposing big man.

Kerem had somewhat of a breakout year for Green Bay in 2016-17, averaging 11.3 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting about 50 percent from the floor. He would be a nice role player off the bench and could potentially replace Ben Carter who is unlikely to be back next season for a sixth year.

Could the Spartans add Kanter to the growing list of transfers in recent memory like Brandon Wood, Eron Harris, Carter and Bryn Forbes?
