Michigan State recruiting is awaiting the decision of five-star small forward Brian Bowen who is ‘definitely’ announcing in April.

While the 2016-17 college basketball season comes to a close on Monday night, Michigan State has been in offseason mode for weeks. The Spartans are still awaiting the decision of a number of potential additions to the 2017-18 version of the team, including Brian Bowen.

The five-star small forward, originally from Saginaw, Mich., participated in the McDonald’s All-American Game last Wednesday. He then led his high school team to the Dick’s National Championship victory, along with future Spartan Jaren Jackson Jr.

Following the game, he made somewhat of a major announcement regarding his recruitment. He told the reporter that he is still down to the same five schools (Michigan State, Creighton, Arizona, N.C. State and Texas) and will “definitely” be announcing in April.

During the McDonald’s All-American festivities, he made it pretty clear that he’s making the best decision for himself based on people leaving each program. For example, if Miles Bridges stays for another year, it’s likely Bowen will head elsewhere even though he’s claimed in the past he’d love to play with him.

There’s still plenty of speculation to be had, but it seems as if Arizona is the frontrunner. That is even though Gary Trent Jr. said that Bowen will pick Michigan State.

The wait is almost over for one of Michigan State’s top targets and Tom Izzo can start planning his roster and rotation for next season.
