Former Michigan State star Adreian Payne had himself a nice game, in limited time, Saturday night, capped off with an epic slam.

It’s been a tough start to his NBA career, but former Michigan State star Adreian Payne had one of his most memorable dunks on Saturday night. He was known as a high-flier at Michigan State during his four years and even participated in the college slam dunk contest.

Everyone knows about the impact he’s had on the program with Lacey Holsworth, an 8-year-old girl he befriended who was battling and later died of cancer. He also helped lead the Spartans to the Elite Eight during his senior season with one of Tom Izzo’s most talented teams ever.

Payne was drafted 15th overall in 2014 and has bounced around a bit, not really earning much playing time in the league.

Well, seeing as Minnesota is out of the playoff race, he might be getting more minutes after his performance Saturday, including a big-time slam. In fact, he put Anthony Tolliver on a poster.

Just watch:

This has to be a huge confidence-booster for the third-year player, especially since he’s been struggling to get minutes with the Timberwolves. He only played seven minutes on Saturday night against the Kings, finishing with six points, three rebounds and two blocks.

This was his first action since March 25 against Portland, but he’s averaging 4.0 points and 1.7 rebounds per game, making the most of his 7.6-minute average.

Payne is an easy guy to root for, but let’s hope he can turn things around near the end of this season and maybe get a change of scenery next year.
