Michigan State basketball is awaiting the decision from Miles Bridges regarding coming back, but he’s struggling to make the choice.

Michigan State is going to be good next season, there’s no doubt about that. However, if Miles Bridges returns to the team, the Spartans could be on an entirely different level. Tom Izzo knows this, but he’s doing his job in gathering information for the young star regarding the NBA Draft.

While Michigan State fans are waiting for the decision regarding Bridges, Izzo is busy gathering intel and meeting with the young star and his mom.

According to his appearance on ESPN‘s Courtside Podcast with Andy Katz and Seth Greenberg, Izzo says that the decision for Miles has been tough and he’s struggling with it.

"“That’s what I’ve been doing the last couple days. It’s been kind of unique because — you guys know Miles a little bit — unbelievable kid. I mean maybe the best player, person I’ve ever had here. He’s just a very humble, uh, I call him a blue-collar superstar.”"

Izzo went a step further to talk about the impending decision the stellar freshman has to make.

"“He’s a unique kid and he’s really struggling with making a decision. Contrary to popular belief, you know, I’m not sitting here on my hands and knees begging him to stay. I’d be tickled to death if he goes. But he’s not one of those guys who’s just going to go. He knows where his draft status is. I think most of us know he’s somewhere in that lottery.”"

The Spartans’ head coach went on to say that he believes Miles will make a decision within the next couple of weeks and he doesn’t think that he’d just test the waters. Meaning, Bridges won’t go work out for teams just to see where he stands, he will either go for good or stay, most likely.

How tough has the decision been for the talented freshman star from Flint? Izzo didn’t think it would be quite as hard on him as it is.

"“It’s been a little harder on him than I thought. You know when I got him, I thought this kid’s one-and-done and he’s going. I think we’re gonna be a real, real good basketball team next year. We’ve got a lot of guys back. Of course if we get him back, it even changes to another level.”"

The best quote was, “Miles is his own man.” Izzo seemed confident that no one was going to pressure him into a decision — family, himself or friends — and he’s going to make the choice that’s best for him.
