Looking for good news regarding Michigan State recruiting’s 2017 basketball class? You may not have to wait too much longer. Five-star center Brandon McCoy is planning on making a decision on his college future soon, which could come down to Michigan State and Oregon.

In fact, he sat down to talk during his McDonald’s All-American game interviews and spoke about the process and which teams are in the running still.
McCoy sat down with Rivals to talk about his recruitment and the final schools to make his list. He gave reasons why each one would be a good fit and it seemed like Oregon and Michigan State stood out to him. He also stated he will be making a decision within a couple of weeks.
The Ducks being in the Final Four seems to help their chances with the five-star center from San Diego, but the fact that Michigan State is led by a Hall of Fame coach is also a huge boost for MSU. He also stated that playing for Izzo would “be an honor.”
While it’s easy to look at the success of this year’s teams and make a decision based off that, McCoy may be going one step further to preview next year’s squads. He would realize Michigan State is going to be near the top of college basketball, especially if Miles Bridges returns.

Winning a championship has to be important to one-and-done players like McCoy, but so is making it to the NBA. The Spartans have gotten bigs to the league before, and they would be able to do so once again with McCoy.
