Michigan State Basketball: What will Miles Bridges decide?

With the 2016-17 Michigan State basketball season over, Miles Bridges has a big decision to make on his NBA future. Will he stay?

Going up for a rebound, he came down and immediately grabbed his side, grimacing in pain. Michigan State basketball’s star freshman Miles Bridges was keeled over in pain, asking for a sub and that looked like it would be the end of his career as a Spartans, potentially.

No one knew what had happened for him to check himself out of the game, but for a tough player like him to do so, it must have been bad. The original replay didn’t reveal what happened specifically, but it seemed like a pulled muscle. Bridges was shown on the sideline, mouthing the words “I can’t even move.”

Would this be the end of the former five-star recruit from Flint? Minutes later, he was shown running out of the tunnel and back to the scorers table, checking right back into the game. Sighs of relief were heard around Spartan Nation as another replay was shown of him getting a forearm shiver to the side/back.

Bridges played a great game, finishing with 22 points and eight rebounds, but the Spartans lost 90-70 to Kansas in the second round. His good friend Josh Jackson got the last laugh and sent the Spartans home early.

Did he also end Bridges’ college career?

It’s very possible. With a decision looming, Bridges told reporters that he doesn’t know what he’s going to do yet and he will speak only to his coaches and mother about it, according to Jeremy Warnemuende of 247Sports.

"“I don’t really know now,” Bridges said when asked what might factor into his decision. “I’m just trying to spend time with my seniors, get some motivation from them. This loss is really motivation for us just to get better.”"

So what does it seem like he’s going to do? Unfortunately, Izzo spoke to the media and offered the idea that he would probably advise Bridges to head to the NBA. Does that mean Bridges will take that advice and run with it? No, but Izzo means a lot to the young freshman.

If I were a betting man, I’d say he’s ready for the NBA and would likely forgo the remaining three years of his college career. However, his relationship with Izzo and love for Michigan State make this a special case. Will he go? No one knows, not even him.
