Former Michigan State basketball star Gary Harris made the entire Timberwolves defense look silly with a steal and slam on Wednesday night.

One of Tom Izzo’s former prized recruits, Gary Harris, has been tearing up the NBA recently. While he’s not scoring 30 a night, he is contributing in all areas of the game to one of the youngest up-and-coming teams in the league, the Denver Nuggets.

Shockingly, he’s almost considered a veteran on the team which is loaded with first-round picks from years past and he’s doing well in his leadership role.

Although Denver is six games below .500 on the year, it’s an improving organization that will only trend upward if it keeps the same core of players. Harris is one of those important stars and he showed that on Wednesday night with his 22 points against the Timberwolves, despite the loss.

However, these two points were his best of the night:

Harris was always known for his defense and ability to get out in fast-break opportunities while at Michigan State. He swiped a Tyus Jones pass and took it coast-to-coast, juking out the point guard who stood in his path, making the Timberwolves’ defense look silly in the process.

It’s always nice to see plays like this from former Spartans and we are still waiting for Denzel Valentine to break out with the Chicago Bulls — in due time. Harris, though, averages 13.4 points and 2.5 assists while shooting 42 percent from behind the arc this year.

A star in the making.
