Michigan State recruiting could pick up a major commitment from four-star 2018 wide out Micah Jones from Illinois.

The 2018 Michigan State recruiting class is now center stage following National Signing Day a couple weeks ago. The Spartans currently have three commitments in the class but could add another one Friday in the form of four-star wide out Micah Jones from Gurnee, Ill.

It’s not exactly likely, but Michigan State has made the 6-foot-5 wide out’s final list of schools and he’s making his decision at 3:00 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon at his high school.

The Spartans just missed out on four-star defensive back target Kalon Gervin from Detroit Cass Tech to Notre Dame and are in danger of the same fate with Jones. His final schools are Iowa, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Illinois and Northwestern. It seems as if the Fighting Irish are the overwhelming favorites.

Jones would make a nice addition to the Spartans’ receiving corps as a big-bodied wide out with impressive hands. He would join Joseph Scates as two of the bigger targets in the class. Imagine two 6-foot-5, 200-pound receivers on either side of the field — not fair for opponents.

The chances aren’t great for the Spartans to land another four-star receiver on Friday, but Jones has been high on Michigan State from the beginning of his recruitment. If I had to guess, though, I’d say he’s going to choose Notre Dame.
