Michigan State basketball hosts Ohio State on Tuesday night and here are the Spartan Avenue staff score predictions.

Tom Izzo knows what his team is capable of. Michigan State might just be 15-10 on the season and 7-5 in conference play, but the veteran head coach is well aware of the talent his team possesses.

In the first meeting between these two teams, the Spartans got off to a hot start, but struggled in the latter stages of the first half and into the second. They’ll need to be much more consistent in this one in order to get revenge against the 15-11 Buckeyes.

Here are the Spartan Avenue staff score predictions for Tuesday night’s contest.

Connor Muldowney: Revenge is on the mind of the young Spartans and that could be all this team needs to produce a big win on Tuesday night. However, they will come out a bit sloppy again before turning things around and getting hot right before halftime. The second half will be more of the same as Josh Langford scores 15, Nick Ward adds 14 and Miles Bridges leads the way once again with 17. Ohio State won’t be able to make threes all game long this time.

Final: Ohio State 64, Michigan State 74

Adam Zdroik: The last time these teams played, JaQuan Lyle did whatever he wanted (22 points) and Trevor Thompson held Nick Ward to nine points. However, he is questionable with an ankle injury and if he doesn’t play, this could be a Spartan blowout since the Buckeyes aren’t very deep. Either way, the only player that did anything for MSU in that first game was Miles Bridges (24 points) and as long as one or two others make a couple shots, the Spartans will win. The hope is that this is their breakout game with about a month to go in the regular season. But that’s exactly what it is… hope.

Final: Ohio State 62, Michigan State 75

Ryan McCumber: Michigan State takes on Ohio State for the second time this year. Ohio State won the first matchup in Columbus. While the Spartans got shellacked in Ann Arbor last week, other than that they have played fairly well in their last four games. Ohio State has underachieved this year and is not expected to make the NCAA Tournament. I expect Miles Bridges to have a big game for the Spartans, I don’t believe Ohio State has someone who can guard him effectively. MSU also will be looking for revenge, as most people feel like the Spartans should have won the game in Columbus.

Final Ohio State 66, Michigan State 75

Joe Clifford: Michigan State lost the last match up against Ohio State by five. In a game that’s important for both teams’ tournament resume, freshmen will lead the Spartans to victory. A double-double for Nick Ward and 15 points from Josh Langford will result in an eight-point win for Michigan State.

Final: Ohio State 60, Michigan State 68

Brooks Hepp: It’s terribly difficult to judge this year’s Michigan State team because of the inconsistency is has shown. That being said, this game is an easier one to judge. Last game against OSU we saw the mismatches the Buckeyes have against the Spartans especially with JaQuan Lyle who scored 22 points on 12 field goal attempts. MSU needs Miles Bridges to be dominant to win, but I think they come up just short.

Final: Ohio State 76, Michigan State 70

Stephen Robb: Ohio State is a tough team that is well coached by Thad Matta. However, the Buckeyes’ season has mirrored MSU’s. The Spartans must win this game in order for their fleeting NCAA Tournament hopes become reality. Miles Bridges will have yet another solid game and MSU wins.
