Michigan State Basketball a 10-seed in Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology

Joe Lunardi listed Michigan State basketball as a No. 10 seed in his latest ESPN Bracketology, facing Iowa State in the first round.

It’s been an up-and-down season for Michigan State basketball, to say the least. There has been chatter around the college basketball landscape about the Spartans potentially missing out on the NCAA Tournament in nearly two decades under Tom Izzo and it’s picking up steam.

Is it possible that Michigan State misses the Big Dance? Absolutely. The Spartans are just 15-10 with its only big wins over Northwestern, Minnesota and Wichita State. They nearly defeated Arizona to start the year and came close against Duke and Purdue (at least for a half).

However, ESPN‘s resident Bracketologist Joe Lunardi believes the Spartans would get in if the tourney started today. He listed Michigan State has a 10-seed in his latest Bracketology, facing No. 7 seed Iowa State.

That’s a tough matchup seeing as the Cyclones were one of the top teams in the country to start the season, but suffered some setbacks like the Spartans did. They have, however, compiled a season-defining win on the road against Kansas while the Spartans are still looking for that resume-builder.

Michigan State will have a chance to improve its seeding line this week with a win over Ohio State on Tuesday and potentially pulling off the upset at Purdue on Saturday. The win over the Boilermakers isn’t likely, but definitely possible.
