What impressive career category is Le’Veon Bell about to surpass Lions running back great Barry Sanders in?

Le’Veon Bell is locked in. Through his first two playoff games as a pro, the fourth-year running back out of Michigan State has dominated opposing defenses, leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to the AFC Championship next weekend.

Bell finished with 170 yards, a franchise record for a single playoff game, on Sunday night against the Chiefs as the Steelers won, 18-16, on the road. No touchdowns were scored by Pittsburgh’s offense, but that wasn’t Bell’s fault. Mike Tomlin decided to pass the ball at the five-yard line with the game’s best running back in the backfield.

Through two playoff games, he has rushed for a total of 337 yards which puts him very close to a career mark from one former all-time great.

You might be saying, “Sanders didn’t play in many playoff games, so that’s why.” Obviously that means you didn’t read the final part of that tweet.

Bell has played in four fewer playoff games than Barry Sanders and is still just 49 yards away from breaking the former Detroit Lion’s all-time playoff rushing yardage mark. That’s an incredible feat for a guy who is making his first playoff appearance this season.

Moreover, Barry’s yards per carry was just 4.2 while Bell is at a cool 5.7 per touch.
