In fact, WalletHub ranked the country’s top college towns and East Lansing came in at No. 2 behind only Oxford, Ohio.

They based their rankings off of this formula:

"To help prospective college students winnow their school choices, WalletHub’s analysts compared 415 U.S. cities of varying sizes based on 26 key indicators of academic, social and economic opportunities for students. Our data set ranges from “cost of living” to “quality of higher education” to “crime rate.”"

East Lansing is a special place and ranks ahead of all major college towns on the list. Other notables were West Lafayette (Purdue) at No. 3, Ann Arbor (Michigan) at No. 7, Columbus (Ohio State) at No. 29, Mount Pleasant (Central Michigan) at 34, Kalamazoo (Western Michigan) at 61 and Ypsilanti (Eastern Michigan) at No. 134.

Home to Spartan Stadium, the Breslin Center, consistently winning football and basketball programs under Mark Dantonio and Tom Izzo, respectively, East Lansing is a great place to send your kids for college.
