7. Georgia vs. MSU (2012)

Another one of those memorable games that Spartan fans won’t soon forget, Michigan State’s matchup with Georgia in the 2012 Outback Bowl. Losing in the conference title game against Wisconsin led the Spartans to this bowl and it was another national exposure opportunity for Dantonio’s team against a top-notch SEC program.

It was an ugly start to the game for the Spartans and it looked like the SEC was going to roll yet again. Georgia jumped out to a 16-0 lead heading into halftime and Michigan State opened the second half strong, thanks to a couple of picks from sophomore cornerback Darqueze Dennard.

Georgia’s lead was cut to 16-14 in the third and the fourth quarter was an unforgettable one as the Spartans tied the game up with under 30 seconds left, 27-27.

Michigan State’s Cousins threw an interception to start overtime, but a missed field goal by the Bulldogs pushed the game into OT No. 2. Both teams exchanged field goals and a third overtime loomed. Michigan State kicked another field goal, taking a 33-30 lead.

Georgia couldn’t score a touchdown and Blair Walsh was looking to kick a 46-yarder to send the game into a fourth overtime. Michigan State’s big front, led by Anthony Rashad White and Jerel Worthy, blocked the potential game-tying field goal.

Kirk Cousins ended his career with his first bowl win as a Spartan.
