Michigan State Football: 7 players who’ll earn 1st-team All-Big Ten honors
Brian Allen has been a force on the offensive line ever since he stepped foot on campus three years ago. The junior offensive guard kicked off his career with Freshman All-American honors and big expectations followed as he was the first offensive lineman selected in the 2015 Green-White spring game draft.
Allen didn’t expect to start right away for the Spartans as a true freshman, but was forced into play against Jacksonville State when Travis Jackson went down with an injury. He never looked back, playing in 12 games as a true frosh and looking like one of the best up-and-coming linemen in the nation.
Trying to follow his brother’s (Jack Allen) footsteps won’t be easy, but Brian has what it takes to be the next big star of the offensive line and he’s already earned All-Big Ten honors in the past.
As a sophomore, he recorded 82.5 knockdowns, which was second on the team, and was a second-team All-Big Ten selection. He started 10 games at left guard and two at center, but will begin the 2016 season as the full-time guy at the former position while Kodi Kieler starts in the middle.
There’s a spot on the first-team for Allen if he wants it.
