3. Oliver Martin,4-star WR

Oliver Martin dominated at The Opening in Oregon this past July, making him one of the biggest risers in the 247Sports recruiting rankings. How high did he jump? Martin went from the low-600 range all the way up to No. 67. That’s the biggest jump I have ever seen in the recruiting circuit.

Yet again, Michigan is the major threat to the Spartans when it comes to landing the four-star receiver from Iowa City. He was offered by the Spartans in June and Michigan extended its offer on July 10 when he was in the middle of a blow-up at The Opening.

The Spartans might hold the slight edge right now based on one commit on Michigan State’s side who happens to be good friends with Martin. Three-star 2017 quarterback pledge Rocky Lombardi will be in Martin’s ear from now until he commits seeing as the two are close friends and MSU’s future quarterback is also from Iowa.

Having a close friend like Lombardi at a campus far away from home for three or four years might ease the stress of picking a college, especially if they can start out as roommates.

Martin might be the top receiver target on the board for Michigan State right now, and that means even higher than Jaylen Harris, DPJ, Hamler and Thomas. He is currently ranked the No. 67 overall prospect, 10th-best receiver and the No. 1 recruit from the state of Iowa.
