Right Tackle

Projected Starter: Kodi Kieler, Senior

Kodi Kiler would have started all 14 games last season had it not been for an injury to his knee that kept him out a few. He did, however, start 11 contests and played well primarily at right tackle although he did start one game at left tackle. It’s going to be tough for anyone to take his job, but Miguel Machado was listed as ‘OR’ at the right tackle position.

Backup(1): Miguel Machado, Senior

Although I believe Machado is best suited for right guard, there’s a chance he could battle Kieler this spring and fall for the starting tackle job. Either way, the position will be one with experience behind it, so Spartan fans need not worry.

Backup(2): Chase Gianacakos, Sophomore

A recent recipient of Michigan State student athlete of the month for April, Chase Gianacakos is showing he has the smarts on and off the field. He provides some good depth at right tackle, but might be a year away from really challenging for serious playing time at the position.

Reserve: Noah Listermann, Freshman (RS)

Listermann is a kid who seems to have been forgotten by many as he was part of the solid 2015 recruiting class under Mark Dantonio. He’s a big 6-foot-7, 315-pound tackle who just flat-out looks like an offensive lineman. Listermann might see the field this year after redshirting in 2015.

Reserve: Luke Campbell, Freshman

The former Purdue commit was one of the latest additions to Michigan State’s 2016 recruiting class and he’s a welcomed one at that. Although he wasn’t highly-rated, he looks to be a serious talent on the offensive line. Expect him to redshirt this season.
