Michigan State Football: Predicting depth chart following spring game
Tight End
Projected Starter: Josiah Price, Senior
Just one year after earning honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition, Josiah Price was expected to break out. However, his junior campaign was filled with injuries and he was limited, unable to really reach his full potential. He still managed to catch 23 passes for 267 yards and six scores. Price had a great spring game as well and when he’s healthy, he can be a first-team All-Big Ten tight end.
Rotation: Jamal Lyles, Senior
Jamal Lyles is a guy who really earned an increase role after his spring game performance. He caught three passes for 33 yards and looked to add an athletic dimension to the tight end position. Now in his senior year, we could see a quite dominant two-tight end set.
Rotation: Dylan Chmura, Junior
Dylan Chmura appeared in all 13 games as a redshirt freshman in 2014 and then played sparingly in 2015. The junior from Wisconsin doesn’t have a career catch, but that could, and should, change this year.
Reserve: Matt Sokol, Sophomore
Coming in as an early enrollee in January of 2014, Matt Sokol didn’t accumulate any stats in his first season, but figures to know the system well enough to at least push for a spot in the rotation.
Reserve: Noah Davis, Freshman
Noah Davis will likely be redshirted this incoming season. He’s a three-star recruit from Ohio.
Next: Left Tackle
