Michigan State Football: Predicting depth chart following spring game
Wide Receiver
Projected Starter: R.J. Shelton, Senior
R.J. Shelton figures to be named the No. 1 starter in the fall, and he deserves it. He’s been contributing at the position since he was a true freshman and hopefully Mark Dantonio cuts down on the predictable end-arounds from him this season. Shelton had a quiet spring game, but he will be the top target this season.
Projected Starter: Monty Madaris, Senior
The fifth-year senior from Ohio was once a highly-touted recruit, but has since been struggling with the wide receiver depth ahead of him and injuries. I’m picking him as a breakout star in 2016 and could see him turning into one of the more reliable targets.
Projected Starter: Felton Davis III, Sophomore
Felton Davis III has the look of a receiver ready for a big career in the green and white and his upside is through the roof. He had just two catches for 50 yards as a true freshman in 2015, but both came in crucial situations against Iowa and Alabama. That bodes well for his confidence.

Rotation: Donnie Corley (Fr.), Cam Chambers (Fr.), Darrell Stewart (Fr.-RS), Matt Macksood (Sr.), Justin Layne (Fr.), Trishton Jackson (Fr.), Edward Barksdale III (Sr.)
The rotation is going to be very deep when the incoming freshmen get to campus. Donnie Corley and Cam Chambers seem to have already earned the right to burn their redshirts after an impressive spring game performance. Justin Layne and Trishton Jackson could do the same in the summer/fall.
Darrell Stewart Jr. was listed as the starter in the slot, but I see that changing by the time the season begins. He will still play a major role on offense with his speed. Matt Macksood had a nice spring game and Edward Barksdale is the most experienced on the bench.
