Yet another kid who the Spartans will have to wrestle away from a rival, four-star 2017 cornerback Amir Riep has exploded onto the recruiting trail in recent months. It seems like every other day for a good month-long span, Riep was getting offered by yet another top-notch program, totaling 43 scholarships right now.

Ohio State is the leader for the Colerain (Ohio) star. Staying close to home might not be a priority, but when you have Urban Meyer coaching the Buckeyes right in your own backyard, that’s something to entertain.

Kids from Ohio and Michigan have it good these days as there are three elite coaches right where they live. Basically, these recruits can’t go wrong with whichever college they choose, and for Riep, it might be down to picking between Meyer and Dantonio — although Harbaugh will likely enter the race like he usually does.

Riep has show a lot of interest in the Spartans and the fact that he wanted to make the trip down to East Lansing this weekend instead of other programs that have offered him also participating in spring games is big for MSU.

You might be asking why the four-star corner has so many offers, but all you need to do is watch his film and you’ll understand.

The sticky cover corner has a high football IQ and physical tools to match. He ranks No. 88 overall in 2017 as well as the seventh-best cornerback and fourth-best Ohio prospect.

Riep has been offered by Auburn, Louisville, Mississippi State, Maryland, LSU, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Georgia, Youngstown State, Eastern Kentucky and UCLA all since the beginning of March.
