Paul Scruggs is another point guard with impressive size, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing in at 200 pounds. Izzo is going after a few points this class who stand about the size of a shooting guard or even an undersized small forward.

Izzo has checked in on him a few times since offering Scruggs a scholarship last May and he was even on campus at the end of January for an unofficial visit — the same time Kris Wilkes was there.

With size, athleticism and a nose for the ball, Scruggs is definitely the ideal Izzo recruit. He’s the kind of kid who would fit perfectly into this system and help take the Spartans to an entirely new level — oh yeah, and he’s a scorer. Basketball these days is moving toward more scoring point guards than just ones who can pass. A solid mixture — Russell Westbrook types — are more desired.

Scruggs is ranked No. 16 overall in the class as well as the second-best point guard and top prospect from Indiana, according to 247Sports. He currently holds offers from Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Illinois, Purdue, Xavier and MSU. The Hoosiers seem to be the leaders as of right now.
