One state in the Midwest that Tom Izzo seems to be hitting hard for 2017 is Indiana. The Hoosier State has been home to some of the nation’s top talent over the past few years for basketball just like Ohio has been a gold mine for football — especially for Mark Dantonio.

Kris Wilkes from North Central High in Indianapolis, Ind., is a name to keep an eye on as his stock keeps rising.

Michigan State has yet to pull the trigger on an offer for Wilkes, but that should soon come, as explained by our very own Kyle Maddox just a couple of weeks ago. In that assessment of Wilkes, Maddox had this to say about a potential offer:

"Wilkes recently visited East Lansing for the Rutgers game and it appeared as if he enjoyed his visit. It is always beneficial for players to get on campus to see what the university is all about. Also, assistant coach Dane Fife stopped by one of his games to watch him. With the recent visits and interest growing between the two parties, it would not be surprising to see a scholarship extended. If the Spartans should choose to do so, anticipate another hard-fought recruiting battle. That being said, receiving a commitment from a talent like Wilkes would sure make it worth the effort."

The interest is definitely growing and the Spartans will need to jump on board soon if they want a chance to land the class’ 17th-best player and fourth-best small forward, according to 247Sports.

Wilkes has already received offers from Xavier, Purdue, Maryland, Kansas, Illinois, UCLA, Indiana and Butler.
