Who are the top 10 Michigan State recruiting targets for the basketball class of 2017?

Michigan State basketball recruiting might just be taking center stage over the next couple of months are you remember it did near this time a year ago. Nick Ward committed and then a couple of weeks later, Caleb Swanigan decommitted and then chose Purdue.

The Spartans’ 2017 recruiting class has yet to add a member, but depending on which 2016 players, and maybe even Deyonta Davis, decide to leave school early, Tom Izzo might have a few scholarship available to use on the talent-loaded group for next year.

While you might look at Michigan State’s 2016 class at Izzo’s best ever, even without Josh Jackson just yet, the 2017 group could wind up being his second-best ever.

Usually in basketball recruiting, you have a tough time finding 10 guys this late in the process in which a school should definitely go after, but it was tough to cut a couple of players from the list who happen to be targets of the Spartans.

Jeremiah Tilmon is a relatively new name to the recruiting process of Michigan State and Izzo is still trying to get acquainted with the big man from La Lumiere School in Indiana.

The Spartans offered Tilmon on his visit Feb. 14 as the Spartans hosted first-place Indiana and blew them out at the Breslin Center. A visit like that for a young kid has to be exciting as the possibility of playing on a nation stage for Izzo could lead to Big Ten titles and Final Fours.

Tilmon is ranked the No. 14 overall player and the sixth-best power forward in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-11, 220-pound big man also hearing from North Carolina, Illinois, Kansas and Kansas State early on.

Although he’s the latest offer from Izzo, he could be a name to really watch for in the coming year as his stock continues to grow.
