One of Michigan State’s top targets for 2016 was four-star offensive lineman E.J. Price from Archer High in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Dantonio looked to be one of the top suitors for his services up until the final months. When Mark Richt was fired, it seemed like the Spartans would snag him from the presumed favorite, Georgia.

However, he left Michigan State out of his top-three just about a month before National Signing Day and people were a bit shocked. He loved East Lansing and the Michigan State staff, just didn’t think it was the right fit for him.

Price surprised everyone when he picked USC on signing day over Georgia and that actually helped Michigan State’s chances with his high school teammate, four-star super athlete Jamyest Williams.

If Price were to pick Georgia, it would almost be a lock for Williams to join him in 2017, but the fact that he picked USC definitely played in Michigan State’s hands.

Right now, the Clemson Tigers seem to be the favorite, but Michigan State made his list of top-10 teams not too long ago, and he took a visit to East Lansing for the Oregon game this past fall and had a great time.

Williams could be a five-star by the time his senior season is over with. He’s ranked the No. 40 overall player and the second-best athlete in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports.
