Detroit is spouting out elite talent at record numbers nowadays and the 2016 class was one of the first years that the nation really took notice — although Ohio State has always realized it and stole Mike Weber from the Wolverines in 2015.

Both Cass Tech and King in Detroit have been producing some of the best talent in the state in recent years and the Spartans even reeled Kyonta Stallworth from Cass Tech and Tyriq Thompson from King in 2015 and then Donnie Corley from King in 2016, narrowly missing out on teammate Lavert Hill.

Ambry Thomas is the next great player to come out of King and the four-star cornerback seems to be a lean toward Michigan State at this point. The Spartans love his style of play and he would be the perfect piece to the secondary maybe that this team has been missing since the departure of Darqueze Dennard and Trae Waynes.

Thomas has great speed and is a sticky cornerback who can cover a team’s top receiver and give him a headache. He stands 6-foot-0 and weighs 170 pounds with some room to add a little muscle. Ken Mannie can take care of that.

The Detroit King star ranks No. 132 overall and is the 12th-best cornerback in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports‘ composite.
