In an interview over the summer, four-star inside linebacker Josh Ross talked about what he liked about each of his top schools. He loves Michigan State because he grew up watching the Spartans and was a huge fan of Javon Ringer. As for the Wolverines of Michigan, he liked the maize and blue because his brother plays there and visits often.

Luckily for the Spartans, James Ross was a senior in 2015 and won’t be there when his younger brother gets to college, but the fact that he went to school at Michigan and had his younger brother visit and showed him the ropes on multiple occasions could go a long way for Jim Harbaugh.

The older Ross is likely telling Josh how great of a time it was at Michigan and how much better Harbaugh is for the football program than Brady Hoke was.

Right now, the Wolverines are the heavy favorites to land the inside linebacker from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, but if K.J. Hamler picks Michigan State, his high school teammate might follow suit. If his brother was still going to be at Michigan in 2017, I’d say he’s a lock to the Wolverines, but his departure leaves a door open, ever so slightly.

Ross is ranked the No. 131 overall player and third-best inside linebacker in the class, according to 247Sports.
