1. Lavert Hill, 4-star CB

Projected school of choice: Michigan State

This is one of the more intriguing recruiting processes out there — not just concerning Michigan State and the entire state, but the nation, too. Lavert Hill is one of the top prospects for the 2016 class and he, too, is from the city of Detroit. As long as Michigan State can control the state, especially Detroit, the Spartans will be fine in future years compared to the Wolverines.

One main in-state battle between the Spartans and Wolverines happens to be for this four-star cornerback who was high school teammates with current Spartan early enrollee Donnie Corley. Also, Hill is best friends with Corley and another MSU pledge, Demetric Vance.

Corley is likely to play mainly offense in his first year at Michigan State with the potential to play both sides somewhere down the line, but Demetric Vance will be a safety for the Spartans. Imagine a defensive backfield with Lavert, Vance and Corley — it will be three best friends who are comfortable with playing together dominating opponents.

When Corley selected the Spartans at the Army All-American Bowl earlier in January, it seemed as if the tides had changes for Hill, who was once a Michigan-lean. His best friend chose the Spartans and he had wanted to play college ball with Corley.

With that being said, I believe he takes the opportunity to join his friends in East Lansing as opposed to his brother, Delano Hill, in Ann Arbor.

Right now I’d say it’s a toss-up, but the Spartans will squeak this one out and finish the class strong.
