George Webster is the most legendary Michigan State football player of all time not just because he was part of some of the most successful teams to ever play in East Lansing, but because he could do it all.

Webster had lined up as a down lineman, linebacker and even safety during his time with the Spartans, proving to be the do-it-all player that led MSU to multiple national titles — in 1965 and 1966 under Duffy Daugherty.
The linebacker/safety hybrid was one of the most feared defensive players in the nation during his time at Michigan State. He was even named to Sports Illustrated‘s all-century team back in 1999 and was named a two-time All-Big Ten defender as well as a two-time All-American.
Not only was Webster a dynamic playmaker on the defensive side of the ball, but his teammates helped him become even better and more feared as the 1965-66 MSU defenses were the two stingiest run-stopping teams in school history, allowing 47 and 51 yards per game on the ground, respectively.
