22. MSU vs. Ohio State (2013)

Ohio State hadn’t lost a game since Urban Meyer took over in 2012. Had the Buckeyes been bowl eligible that season, they would have likely gone to the national title game and many believed they were good enough to win it.

Mounting a 24-game winning streak heading into the 2013 Big Ten title game, Meyer’s Buckeyes were looking to just take care of business yet again and continue the two-year stretch of not having lost a game — let alone to a Big Ten foe.

Mark Dantonio’s team was a severe underdog despite the fact that it made the Big Ten Championship in 2011, losing to Wisconsin on a heartbreaking roughing the kicker call — that was questionable, by the way.

Michigan State jumped out to a 17-point lead against the Buckeyes, but everyone and their mother knew that wouldn’t last too long.

Ohio State tied it up early in the third quarter and then took the lead with just five minutes left in the same frame. Michigan State responded with a field goal and a touchdown within the next 10 minutes, taking a 27-24 lead with 11 minutes to go in the game.

The deal was really sealed when Jeremy Langford found a hole up the middle on a late run, pushing the lead to 10. When he was dashing toward the end zone, every Spartan fan, young and old, knew that Michigan State was headed to the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1988.
