Yet again, the run game sealed the deal for Michigan State as the Spartans relied heavily on the rushing attack even though the return of Connor Cook did provide over 240 yards through the air.
Michigan State totaled 188 yards on the ground as well as three touchdowns and got everyone involved. The Penn State defense is known for stopping the run, but the MSU offensive line did a fantastic job of creating holes and allowing Spartan running backs to find the crease and pick up nice chunks.
The leading rusher was Gerald Holmes yet again as he rushed the ball 12 times for 64 yards and a touchdown. He might not be the most talented back on the team, but he fights harder for yardage than anyone.
True freshman LJ Scott seems to be finding his groove again, finishing with 11 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. He definitely looks like the running back of the future and if he could get his former high school teammate, four-star ATH George Hill, to join him, this backfield will be scary in a couple of years.
Madre London only got one carry, for some reason. Not sure why his playing time has decreased recently, but he made the most of that one carry, taking it for 20 yards — the longest run of the day.
Delton Williams had four rushes for 18 yards and the surprise of the day was senior back Phillip-Michael Williams who got some garbage time carries and finished with 19 yards on four touches.
