4. Deyonta Davis is going to be special

The 2015 recruiting class wasn’t exactly considered ‘elite’ by any standards, but the addition of four-star — on the cusp of five-star status — All-American big man Deyonta Davis was big for Izzo. In fact, the big man’s reputation for being one of the best recruits in the nation soared in the months following his commitment to MSU.

On Wednesday night, he showed just why he was coveted by a handful of programs, racking up points, rebounds and blocks in his first game as a Spartan.

Davis might not be the tallest guy on the floor at all times, but he has the opportunity to be one of the more explosive, talented and physically-gifted players out there. Finishing with 12 points, four boards and four blocks show his extreme versatility and that has to get Izzo excited about his future.

The young freshman needs to continue this trend of solid production as he was one of the top shot-blockers in the nation in high school. Imagine him starting at center next year with the four talented recruits coming in on an already-solid base of a roster. Just frightening.
