Steve Sarkisian had dipped his hand into the Spartans’ cookie jar and stole an in-state five-star linebacker recruit right from under their noses. Now that Sarkisian has since been fired from his head coaching job at USC, Daelin Hayes has decided to open up his commitment again, and it seems like the Spartans are in good shape.

Rivals ranks Hayes as the No. 1 player in the state of Michigan for 2016 and the No. 13 overall player in the country as well — also, the third-best outside linebacker.

Current high school teammate of Michigan State’s four-star 2017 wide receiver commit, Hunter Rison, Hayes has a good connection with Dantonio and the Spartans and his comrade is hoping that when he gets to campus in two years that Hayes will be in his second season with the green and white.

It seems like Notre Dame might currently have the lead for the five-star linebacker from Ann Arbor Skyline, but the Spartans are the other team fighting for his services. He has been to MSU multiple times and is familiar with the staff, campus.

Hayes will be back for his final official to Michigan State on Nov. 14 when Michigan State hosts Maryland.
