The Spartans did not give Geiger an opportunity to kick last week and they really only had once chance and that was from 30-plus yards and going into the win and chose to go for it.

I’m sure I was like the rest of Spartan Nation as the game was winding down, thinking in the back of my mind, this is going to come down to Geiger and I am terrified. As we all know, it did not, and the greatest play in Michigan State history happened, which, again, I will watch 10 times a day.

But back to Geiger. At some point in this season I have a sneaky suspicion that a game will come down to the junior kicker. As it has been discussed at length, Geiger needs to get his confidence back there is just no other way around it. There are no suitable backups to put in and head coach Mark Dantonio needs him to be at his best, leaving points off the board is not an option.

This should be a high scoring offensive game. While I would love for MSU to score a touchdown every possession I know that isn’t feasible. When Geiger gets his opportunities, he needs to connect.

Michigan State is going to need the points in the game and he needs to get his swagger back.
