5. Edwin Baker TD run (2010)

This was the touchdown run that really got Spartan fans excited about the future of the program. Edwin Baker took a handoff and scampered 61 yards to the end zone against the Wolverines on the road in Mark Dantonio’s fourth matchup with the hated rival.

Note: If not already there, the run is at the 1:54 mark.

This one was an easy choice because after this run, the floodgates opened for the Spartans and the scoring just didn’t stop. The most memorable picture from this game happened after the Baker run in which he threw up his index finger to his mouth, telling the maize and blue clad crowd to be quiet.

Michigan State really gained steam after this win as it was Dantonio’s third in a row against Michigan and the middle of a really dominant run by the Spartans in the series.

The 2010 matchup was one in which both teams were evenly matched, like this year, and the hype surrounding the game was immeasurable — also like this year. In fact, this may have been the last game in the series in which there was equal excitement on both sides of the field.

However, the Spartans laid down the law and took a third straight win, eventually taking a fourth in 2011 before falling in 2012 on a last-second field goal.
