USC had the week off, but the Trojans’ win over Arizona State last week is looking even better after the Sun Devils just took down UCLA on the road. The Trojans have been relying heavily on Heisman-hopeful quarterback Cody Kessler who is having a great year while JuJu Smith-Schuster might be the most talented receiver in the country.

Florida State has really yet to impress anyone as they barely beat Wake Forest, 24-16, on the way to a 4-0 start to the season. It was a win for the Seminoles, but a loss overall as Dalvin Cook was knocked out of the game and we don’t exactly know the severity of his leg injury just yet. Everett Golson has been quiet and just barely effective for FSU this season.

Clemson took down Notre Dame in a crazy, close game in which the Fighting Irish missed a two-point conversion try to lose with just seven seconds left. Deshaun Watson had his worst game of the season as the Tigers’ offense was held in check, but the defense did just enough to come out with a win on a rainy, ugly day.

Utah had the week off, but have time to prepare for Cal and Jared Goff’s elite aerial attack. The Utes are getting a lot of love in the national polls as they have been voted No. 5 in the AP poll this week and even received a few first-place votes. After crushing Oregon 62-20 last week, the Utes look like a serious playoff contender.

LSU had somewhat of a bye week as it faced Eastern Michigan this week, but the Eagles gave the Tigers a much better battle than they were expecting. The Tigers won 44-22 after Leonard Fournette furthered his Heisman campaign by rushing for 233 yards and three touchdowns. This team is currently on the outside looking in, but we will find out a lot about this team in the coming weeks.
