4. Connor Cook has his best game thus far

In the opening, I stated that I would not take the easy way out and predict Cook throwing for a touchdown, and I still will not. I will, however, answer the question about whether Cook will stake his claim as the best quarterback in the Big Ten with this game.

Cook will put up impressive and efficient numbers, throwing for over 350 yards, three touchdowns and completing 68 percent of his passes. These numbers will earn him the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award as well as lead the Spartans to a convincing victory everyone has been yearning for.

The senior quarterback has been waiting for a breakout performance like this one, and what better team to test his true skill set against than a struggling Purdue squad? It looks like Cook’s Heisman candidacy will take on new life in this one after he absolutely torches Purdue’s suspect secondary.

Offensive coordinators Jim Bollman and Dave Warner will utilize the vertical passing game more than ever in this game, taking advantage of a weak Purdue secondary. After only throwing 19 passes last week, Cook’s arm should be well-rested and he is ready to put it to good use, which he will, spreading the ball throughout his receiving core for a banner day.
