This grade specifically goes to one player, Connor Cook, obviously. While he has by no means played poorly, he has also not played to his lofty standard and met the high expectations just yet. Cook has guided the team to four wins and a No. 2 ranking, but he has not yet played his best.

Throws have been missed and the offense has not fully seemed in a rhythm for a full game. Against Western Michigan, first game rust can be attributed to the tough performance. Facing Oregon, the offense did answer every time Oregon scored but failed to close the game out. Air Force was Cook’s best game where he threw for 247 yards and four touchdowns. Finally against Central Michigan he only threw 19 times and the offense did not score for over a quarter.
Cook has 838 yards and nine touchdowns to one interception on the season which are very good statistics. But when you have first round draft potential, are a fifth-year senior, and want to lead your team to a national championship you are being graded against a high curve.
Cook is going to need to lead the offense and Spartans to wins in upcoming games and if they do want to meet their goals, he will have to play at first-round draft pick level or this season will be a disappointment.
