5. Relationship with Tom Izzo

Being from Flint and playing some high school ball there, Tom Izzo has been watching Miles Bridges for a long time now. Scouting young talent is something Izzo has grow accustomed to as he has gotten in early on some of the top players in Michigan, such as Cassius Winston, Josh Jackson and Bridges.

Winston was the latest highly-touted basketball recruit to commit to the Spartans a week after his visit for the Oregon football game — Miles Bridges, Josh Langford and Nick Ward were also there together. Jackson is high on MSU and the Spartans are currently in his top-five — oh yeah, and he’s the No. 1 player in the 2016 class. Lastly, Bridges is down to three, with MSU trending toward the top.

The relationship between Izzo and Bridges is a strong one, and the two share a pretty solid bond that not many people know about.

As one of the first coaches to believe in him and a guy who Miles used to watch as a kid, Tom Izzo’s relationship with the five-star from Flint cannot be overlooked in this situation. Bonds like this may be strong enough to lure a kid to committing.
