Special Teams: A
The special teams were much better in this one than in any game this season for the Spartans and, therefore, I had to give them an ‘A.’

I think that the special teams unit, along with maybe the run game, was the only one that improved from last week to this week as Michael Geiger, Jake Hartbarger and the rest of the punt coverage/kickoff coverage and punt/field goal block units looked great.
Geiger came into this one with a world’s worth of pressure on his back. He knew that he would be on a short leash if he kept missing field goals, but he stepped up in the first half to drain a 47-yarder and the crowd went wild. His teammates also knew how big that make was as they congratulated him on the sidelines.
However, his 99-consecutive extra points made streak was snapped after a blocked attempt in the fourth quarter during garbage time.
Hartbarger continues to show that he is the best punter in the Big Ten, at least he looks like it, drilling high, tight spirals on every try.
Lastly, the field goal blocking unit was phenomenal, blocking two tries by Central Michigan, ensuring long drives were all for naut.
Improvement is exciting, and we should be excited for the special teams units.
