Every week, it seems like the depth chart release by Mark Dantonio is a bit surprising. The tight end position is always one to keep an eye on, especially this week since Jamal Lyles and Paul Lang are both listed as ‘OR’ at the starting spot with Josiah Price.

Price has already tied a Michigan State record of touchdowns by a tight end, 13, and is looking to break that mark this week. He’s quite possibly the best receiving tight end in the Big Ten, but he can’t even secure the starting job over the more athletic Lyles and the blocking specialist Lang.

It seems as if the blocking has become a bit of a concern for Coach D as Price has been the ‘OR’ with Lyles for a couple of weeks now. He can catch basically anything thrown his way, but the run blocking has become an issue as it’s difficult for these backs to get around the edge, at times.

For Michigan State’s passing, and rushing, attack to have success, Price will need to step up to take the pressure off the receivers and make sure the running backs can rack up some yards.
