2. Cassius Winston, 4-star 2016 PG

The first, and only, basketball recruit I have on this list is Cassius Winston given that he just removed the Michigan Wolverines — potentially the Spartans’ main competition — from his final list, leaving three schools to fight for his services.

Winston is in his last official visit and Michigan State might be all he was waiting to see as the Wolverines were supposed to get his last visit on Sept. 19 before he cancelled.

We may never know why Michigan was dropped from his list, but we do know that the Spartans are in a great position to land him as he will be in East Lansing on Saturday night with fellow 2016 target, five-star Miles Bridges.

Michigan State’s 2016 basketball class is on pace to be the best in the Tom Izzo era — which is saying a lot — with two open spaces remaining. If Winston commits on Saturday, don’t be surprised if a Bridges decision is soon to follow.
