In order for the Spartans to continue on the path of their “Reach Higher” mantra, these are games that they need to win. A top-ten team is coming to Spartan Stadium, from another conference, and the Spartans need to show the national pundits that they are true players in the College Football Playoff system.
A loss here does not end the Spartans season, as early season losses can be overcome to still reach the playoff — see, 2014 Ohio State — but it certainly would not help Michigan State’s cause.
Against Western Michigan, the Spartans showed flashes of their potential but did not play with the true consistency, on either side of the ball, that will be needed in order to beat the No. 7 ranked Ducks.
If Michigan State and Spartan Nation want to leave Spartan Stadium happy at the end of the game Saturday night, the entire team is going to need to step up their play to the highest level, as this will not be an easy task.
However, there are five players that need to bring their best and then some to really help this team wants to come out victorious. Let’s dive into who these players are and why they need to step up their performance.
