Chris Frey has the best chance to win the starting job, and everyone knows it. Ed Davis even reportedly told Frey that it was his job to lose now, according to Mike Wilson.

"“He already came to me and said, ‘You need to step up, this is your spot to take,’” Frey said. “He said if you ever have any questions about the spot, just come and ask because I’m here for you.”"

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker is already listed as Davis’ backup and there should be no reason for him not to prove that it’s his job to lose, right?

Even one of our writers believes that he should win the starting job:

"“Frey has played in big games, in a lesser role, and has shown no fear for the moment which you must have as a linebacker. He will continue his progression and step up with Davis mentoring him from the sidelines as the Spartans continue to reach higher.” -Patrick Forrest"

Frey showed that he knows how to perform under pressure and in big games, playing in all 13 as a true freshman last year and performing as a special teams star. He has quickly become a fan favorite and that will only continue this season.
