2. Madre London named starter

Speculation about who the starting running back will be when the 2015 season begins is all going to come to an end in a couple of weeks when the Spartans open the season at Western Michigan.

Although junior running back Delton Williams, who reminds me a bit of Le’Veon Bell, has been reinstated to the team, without a scholarship, it will be redshirt freshman Madre London who will get the nod to begin the year.

L.J. Scott and Gerald Holmes are two more guys who are in the running for the job, but I just don’t think the latter of the two has enough firepower to compete. Scott, London and Williams will be my top three running backs on the depth chart throughout the season with Holmes getting a carry here and there.

While I believe Scott is the most talented of the group, it’s very rare for Dantonio to give the nod to a freshman at a skill position at running back. The last time that happened was when Larry Caper/Edwin Baker split carries following the departure of Javon Ringer.

London will be named the starter for week one, but all other weeks following that will be up in the air. I do think he has the talent to keep the job for the entirety of the season.
