Michigan State has a long history of top wide receivers coming through the program — long before Mark Dantonio was ever the head coach. Guys like Andre Rison, Muhsin Muhammad, Plaxico Burress, Charles Rogers and Tony Lippett have come in and made an impression before moving on to the NFL.

Five-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones could be the next to leave his mark on East Lansing before dominating at the next level.

Peoples-Jones, a five-star recruit ranked No. 12 overall and the third-best receiver in the class by 247Sports, is current teammates with MSU-pledge Demetric Vance and has seen a handful of Cass Tech alumni make the decision to join the Spartans in the past few years — although many also go to Michigan.

There is no doubt in my mind that Dantonio has Peoples-Jones in the top-three on his big board of recruits for the class of 2017 and he could be the biggest wide receiver prospect to join MSU since Charles Rogers back in 2000.

Get ready to hear the name Donovan Peoples-Jones quite a bit in the coming year and just watch his film and you’ll realize just why he’s so coveted by every major collegiate program out there.
