Right now, five-star small forward Miles Bridges has to be the top target for the Spartans. He is one player who is being heavily recruited by Kentucky and the Spartans need to ensure he stays close to his hometown of Flint and carries on the MSU legacy from that city.
Bridges has faced pressure from friends and family to carry the ‘Flintstone’ legacy at Michigan State, however, according to The Courier-Journal:
"“She likes Tom Izzo a lot, because we’ve been up to Michigan State more than any other school. It’s a lot of pressure on me, because everybody from Flint’s saying, ‘You gotta go to Michigan State. You’re from Flint.’ But I’m just going to make the best decision for me. My mom’s opinion means a lot to me, but it won’t mean, like, everything. Because she could make the wrong decision, too.”"
While that excerpt may be pretty positive for the Spartans, he also mentioned earlier in the article that Kentucky was the one team that is guaranteed to make his next cut. Right now, he has narrowed his list to eight teams and he’s looking at five in the near future before making a decision likely before his senior season.
If you want to hear a comparison for Bridges, I have heard him compared to Shannon Brown and Jason Richardson. If he’s anything like those two guys, the Spartans would be absolutely ecstatic with a commitment.
As of right now, he is the top target and it would be surprising if he picked a school not named Michigan State or Kentucky.
